Taylor Community, LRGHealthcare, Community Health & Hospice and Lakes Region United Way Team Up to Give a Helping Hand to Haiti

Taylor Community, LRGHealthcare, Community Health and Hospice and the Lakes Region United Way have teamed up to give a helping hand to Haiti in its efforts to recover from the recent earthquake disaster. As part of this effort, each organization will be working with their employees, clients, residents, friends and associates to get them involved in order to raise much needed cash donations.

The earthquake which occurred on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 left Haiti in shambles and without electricity or phone service. A third of the country's population, about 3 million people, has been affected.

Through this effort contributions can be made either by mailing checks to the Lakes Region United Way at 95 Water Street, Laconia, NH 03246; by calling (603) 524-6864 or by visiting the website at www.lruw.org. There is no administration charge so 100% of donations will go directly to help Haiti residents in need. Donations can be directed to the United Way Worldwide Disaster Fund, the Salvation Army or the American Red Cross.

Janet Mitchell, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at the Taylor Community, explained, "When we saw what was happening in Haiti, our immediate response was to determine how we could help. Our connection with LRGHealthcare, Community Health and Hospice and the Lakes Region United Way provided us with a great opportunity to make a difference. Our four organizations can make a significant impact for Haiti by reaching out to the Lakes Region community in this time of need."

President and CEO of LRGHealthcare, Tom Clairmont agreed, "The crisis in Haiti is devastating and the good people of the Lakes Region want to step up to help. Our joint efforts will secure funding needed in order to make an important difference in the lives of people affected there."

"Community Health and Hospice is happy to work with Taylor Community, LRGHealthcare and the Lakes Region United Way to offer aid to this nation that has suffered so much", stated Margaret Franckhauser, Executive Director of Community Health & Hospice. "The staff here is eager to help and this will provide us with a greater opportunity to make a difference to the people of Haiti."

"We are pleased to partner with these other local organizations", stated Jack Terrill, President of the Lakes Region United Way. "Our state-of-the-art donor tracking system will allow contributions to be made directly to us and then distributed as donors wish - either to the United Way Worldwide Disaster Fund, to the Salvation Army or to the American Red Cross."
