Meadowbrook Lives United!

Another winning concert and raffle season at the Meadowbrook U. S. Cellular Pavilion

Thirty-three volunteers sporting LIVE UNITED shirts awarded nearly $8000 in cash prizes - and raised nearly $8000 for the Lakes Region United Way – this past season at Meadowbrook U. S. Cellular Pavilion by selling 50/50 raffle tickets to concert-goers.

In a 50/50 raffle, the ticket sales for the evening are tallied up and split in half. Half go to the holder of the winning ticket, and half go to the charity holding the raffle.

"We pride ourselves on giving our patrons added value with their concert experience. Many folks enjoy playing the 50/50 raffle, and they love the thrill of taking a chance on taking home a jackpot," according to RJ Harding, President of Meadowbrook U. S. Cellular Pavilion. "Many more just enjoy giving a little to charity – just like music, it's a great feeling and good for the soul."

"The great folks at Meadowbrook welcomed us into their venue in 2003 as part of their commitment to give back to the community," said Jack Terrill, President of the LRUW, "and that partnership has continued and grown. Over the past seven years, Meadowbrook has made it possible for our volunteers to raise over $82,000 for the community. We are truly grateful to the Meadowbrook family for making this possible. In addition to being a major benefactor to the Lakes Region's music scene and culture, Meadowbrook has also been a major benefactor to the human services culture in our community."

Meadowbrook's management also gives ticket buyers an opportunity to donate to the LRUW while they are purchasing a ticket on-line, and they also offer their employees the opportunity to give to the cause through payroll deduction or direct donation.

"We would like to thank the volunteers who worked hard selling tickets at the shows this year," said Kevin Conway, Operations Manager of the LRUW who also manages the raffle. "They had the most difficult job. It was a tough sell this year, with the weather and the economy, and these folks really stepped up to the plate and showed how they LIVE UNITED. We are also grateful to the Town of Gilford for permitting us to hold the raffle, and to the folks at the Citizen for sharing space in their tent for the third year in a row. It definitely came in handy this year."
